Unlock the expressive power of charcoal in our Charcoal Effects Workshop, hosted by the talented Jayne Ruffel-Ward, leader of the Cambridge Drawing Group. This hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to the versatile and timeless medium of charcoal. You’ll explore the unique qualities of both willow and compressed charcoal as you build your confidence, working from background to foreground to create a stunning shadowy forest scape. Learn to craft soft shades, textured effects, bold dark marks, and sharp highlights in a supportive and inspiring environment. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will ignite your creativity.

Following the incredible success of the Cambridge Arts Festival, we’re thrilled to introduce the Art Club—a vibrant new initiative by Cambridge BID. As part of our year-round activities, the Art Club is designed to keep the creative momentum going right up to the next Cambridge Arts Festival in February. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just exploring your creative side, our Art Club is here to ignite your imagination, introduce you to exciting new techniques, and connect you with a dynamic community of fellow art enthusiasts.

What’s in Store?

Exciting Workshops: Immerse yourself in a variety of dynamic workshops that are sure to spark your creativity. Each session is led by talented local artists and caters to all skill levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, you’ll find inspiration and challenges tailored to your needs.

Creative Connections: Meet new friends and bond over your shared love for art in a friendly, relaxed setting. Our workshops offer a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and enjoy the creative process together.

Venue Vibes: Join us at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse, a welcoming and accessible venue. Enjoy complimentary tea and filter coffee and take advantage of a discount on food at the bar—perfect for fueling your creativity! The venue is fully accessible, featuring lifts and disabled toilets to ensure everyone can participate comfortably.

Take Home Your Art: Each session is hands-on, allowing you to create and take home your very own masterpiece. It’s a fantastic way to showcase your talent and keep the creative spark alive!

When and Where?
The Art Club meets on the third Monday of each month from September to January, offering a warm and creative escape during the colder months. Join us from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse—a perfect setting to unwind, create, and have a blast. We can’t wait to continue this artistic adventure with you!
