Down Your Street – Green Street

Look up from Green Street’s quaint cobbles to marvel at a dazzling Sky Garden installation. Louise Cummings takes in the blooming beautiful view

One of Cambridge’s most beloved thoroughfares, Green Street boasts an enticing array of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Here, you can commission exquisite bespoke jewellery, feast on wild Cornish monkfish or sip expertly-crafted hot chocolate. Named after Dr Oliver Green, of Caius College, on whose estate it was laid out in 1614, it’s currently adorned with hundreds of vibrant hanging flowers, courtesy of Cambridge BID. Pop down for a shop and a selfie this summer!

40 Green Street

Boasting one of the prettiest window displays in the city, this beautiful boutique is awash with jewellery, statement homeware, Fairtrade furnishings and gorgeous gifts. Run by Cambridge residents Wendy Smalley and her daughter Evan, it opened this March and has attracted a loyal following. We love the colourful candles and quirky artist collaboration plates. We recommend the ‘dangerously fluffy and famously moreish’ five-stack pancakes and the signature cocktails! Visit bills-website.co.uk
